The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kogi State in the 2015 general elections, Alhaji Yusuf Agabi has called on party leaders and members at all levels to support the national chairman, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff in leading the PDP to victory in 2019.

Speaking with newsmen in Abuja, on Sunday, Agabi noted that at the moment, only Senator Sheriff had the political sagacity to turn around the fortunes of the PDP.

He called on party members to put aside their personal interests and work collectively for the interest of the party, noting that personal interest was one of the factors that cost the PDP victory in 2015 general elections.

“I am calling on party leaders and members to give the national chairman, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff the necessary support to lead PDP to victory in 2019. I am sure that after one year with the APC,

Nigerians now know who to trust with their votes and mandate. We made mistakes in the past; and we are working on correcting those mistakes.

“The most important things for us in the PDP now is how to rebuild the party. And that is exactly what the national chairman is currently doing. I think we should put our differences aside, as well as our political differences, and work for the interest and progress of the party,” Alhaji added.

He advised members to play by the rules in the forthcoming PDP state congresses, saying the smooth conduct of the exercise would indicate whether the party had metamorphosed into a formidable political platform through which Nigerians could realise their aspirations.
