Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Rivers South East senatorial district, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, has condemned the statement credited to Governor Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike that officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) coming to conduct rerun elections in the state should write their will.
The governor had while addressing civil servants in the state, warned INEC officials to write their will if they are coming to rig the scheduled rerun elections in the state, saying those that rig the forthcoming rerun would be treated like armed robbers.
But, Abe, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Thursday by his media aide, Parry Saro Benson, said the statement is not only inappropriate but unhelpful as that is a call to violence.
He said, “I appeal to the candidates to be issue based in their campaigns and discuss matters that benefit our people. Candidates should desist from indulging in character assassination, campaign of calumny, attrition and naked propaganda.”
He called on the youths to refrain from being tools in the hands of unscrupulous politicians, who want to use them to perpetrate violence for their selfish aggrandizement while their children are living comfortably and safe overseas.
