The secretary, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT), Sen. Walid Jibrin, yesterday said the party would win the upcoming Kogi and Bayelsa states governorship elections with “clear margin’’.
Jibrin made the prediction at his Nasarawa country home while fielding questions from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) ahead of the polls and other sundry issues affecting the PDP.
He said that the party was working tirelessly to win the Nov. 21 and Dec. 5, Kogi and Bayelsa gubernatorial elections, respectively.
“I want to let you know that the PDP has done a lot in fighting poverty, unemployment and youth restiveness, as well as promoting peace in the country.
“In spite of the defeat our great party PDP suffered during the March 28 Presidential and National Assembly elections, the party would bounce back and will win all positions in future elections.
“We have gone to Kogi and Bayelsa in respect of their governorship elections; with what we have seen on ground, PDP will win Kogi and Bayelsa gubernatorial elections with clear margin.
“If anybody will say that PDP will die, I want to tell you and the world that PDP will not and will never die,’’ he said.
According to him, the PDP will continue to exist, saying “we will win all positions in future election’’.
Jibrin also said that the party was already working tirelessly to win the presidential election in 2019, adding that the PDP will change Nigeria positively when it regains office.
The scribe said the BoT and the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), elected members and other stakeholders were working hard to strengthen and unite the PDP for the good of the country.
Jibrin called on the party supporters and Nigerians to be law abiding, respect constituted authority and not allow themselves to be used by selfish individuals to cause division in the country.
