The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Rivers South East senatorial district, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of budgetting the sum of N50 million to launch smear campaign against APC candidates in the forthcoming rerun state and National Assembly elections in Ogoniland.
He alleged that already each of the four local government areas in Ogoniland has been given N10 million each, while the remaining N10 million was given to a central organising committee, to mobilise and incite youths of Ogoni against the APC, especially him.
Abe, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Thursday, said the plan is to stage a protest against him on the false allegation that he and the APC are behind the on-going leadership crisis in the Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People (MOSOP) as well as the security operations against suspected cultists and kidnappers in Ogoniland.
The former chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum (Downstream), advised the people of Ogoni to be wise to avoid being deceived for the second time, pointing out that the security operations against suspected cultists and kidnappers is not only in Ogoniland but in other parts of the state, including; Abua, Onelga, Port-Harcourt, Okrika, Ikwerre, Emouha, and Ogu- Bolo.
The APC leader accused a serving commissioner in the Governor Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike-led administration and a sacked PDP senator as being behind the plot.
