The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State has debunked allegations leveled against them by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The PDP had earlier said that the APC planned rigging the re-run election in the state before its postponement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Addressing reporters in Owerri, the capital of Imo State on Wednesday, the APC candidate for Imo North Senatorial district, Benjamin Uwajumogu, said that the rumors making rounds is untrue.
Mr Uwajumogu, however, alleged that the PDP and its senatorial candidate have been conniving with the staff of INEC to rig the election in their favour.
He noted that for INEC to conduct a free and fair election in the state, the Chairman of INEC would have to overhaul some key staff of the Commission if truly they are committed to conducting free and fair election.
Meanwhile, the senatorial candidate of the PDP, Athan Achonu, said that his party and the entire people of Okigwe zone would resist any form of imposition, intimidation and Godfatherism by the ruling party in the state.
