Delta State governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has replied his critics including opposition party members in the state who recently alleged that he lost a whooping sum of $10million to his mistress, US based actress.

Recently, the media was awash with stories that Okowa had allegedly diverted the federal government’s bailout fund of $10 million for laundry through his mistress, a Nigeria born actress based in the United States of America (USA), but was unfortunately, duped by the said mistress.

During a media parley yesterday in Asaba the governor debunked the allegation as spurious, adding, “I don’t believe in mistresses, I have embraced God over ten years ago, I’m a Christian who do not believe in mistress, the allegation was strictly the handwork of my critics and opposition party members”.

The governor explained that the report was not only malicious, but unfounded as the federal government’s bail out was never paid in dollars, adding that bailout funds was judiciously used for infrastructural development of the state.

Dr. Okowa disclosed that despite the economic recession, his “SMART Agenda” for Deltans was still on course, particularly the job creation where over 18, 000 jobs had been created in the past one year and eight months of his administration.

He said that the recent visit of Nigeria’s Vice President to the Niger-Delta region was a welcome development that had momentarily put a stop to the militants’ agitation through incessant oil pipelines’ bombings.

The governor regretted that the state had lost over 250 barrels of oil to pipeline vandalism, saying that the vandalization had brought the economy of the state to its knees.

On his administration’s move to rejuvenate the health sector, Okowa disclosed that N100million had been released to the state owned University Teaching Hospital (DESUTH) Oghara, as part of the huge sums of money required to enable it function effectively, adding that school of Nursing/Midwifery in the state which had operated over 20 years without a law and accreditation had been regularized to operate with laws while the accreditation process was ongoing.

The governor further disclosed that the state government had renovated over 300 classroom and constructed 1, 800 additional ones in the state, while 12, 816 primary school teachers were promoted.
