Former senate president, David Mark has refuted a report in which it was alleged he refused to enter the witness box in an election tribunal case in Makurdi.
He said he was not invited to the witness box by the election tribunal so the issue of refusal never arose.
A statement issued by his media aide, Kola Ologbondiyan to newsmen yesterday in Abuja, said, “Our attention has been drawn to a Nation Newspapers report of Wednesday, August 19, 2015 in which the publication mischievously stated that Senator Mark refused to enter the witness box”.
The statement said for the avoidance of doubt, Senator David Mark was not invited to the witness box by the Benue State Election Petition Tribunal in Makurdi throughout the proceedings of that day. So the issue of refusal to enter the witness box never arose.
According to the statement, “It is therefore unfounded and the figment of the writer’s (Emma Ujah) imagination and an embarrassment to the publishers of the Nation newspapers.
He lamented that it is curious and unimaginable that a newspaper like the nation can be reduced to a newsletter of hate driven politicians who would rather ventilate lies and fabrications instead of the sacred facts to an unassuming public.
