A former head of Department of Dramatic Arts of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Prof. Foluke Ogunleye, on Sunday died in a ghastly motor accident.
The professor of Dramatic Arts was said to be an elder sister to Mr. Femi Adesina, the special adviser on media to President Muhammadu Buhari.
It was gathered that the accident occurred along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the early hours of Sunday.
Confirming her death to our correspondent on the telephone, the public relations officer of the university, Mr. Abiodun Olanrewaju, said the deceased was a lecturer in the Dramatic Arts Department and she hailed from Ipetumodu in Osun State.
Late Ogunleye headed the Department of Dramatic Arts of OAU from 2006 till 2009.
Ogunleye, a renowned author, published the play: ‘Nest In a Cage and Jabulile’ among others and delivered her inaugural lecture early last year, about three decades after Prof. Wole Soyinka delivered his in the department.
She was also the executive director, Ife International Film Festival of OAU before the unfortunate road mishap took her life.
