Former Kogi State deputy chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Idris Jimoh, has dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Jimoh, in a letter dated January 5 and addressed to the PDP ward chairman of Obeiba Ward One in Okehi Local Government Area, gave no reason for the withdrawal of his party membership.
However, it was learnt that Jimoh’s defection to the opposition may not be unconnected with the role some highly placed individuals played to frustrate his ambition when he contested the state chairman in September last year.
A source close to Jimoh disclosed that several of his supporters are defecting with him and the defection ceremony is expected to take place soon.
It was also learnt that Jimoh might be given a juicy appointment in the incoming administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello who is his kinsman from the central axis of the state.
