Don’t Grant Mimiko Loan, APC Cautions Bank, FG

All Progressives Congress (APC), Ondo State chapter has cautioned the management of Access Bank and federal government not to grant the state governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko any loan.

Besides, the party also called on the governor to give account for all allocations collected since inception of his administration more than six years ago.

APC, in a statement issued in Akure, the state capital yesterday by its publicity secretary, Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya, challenged the state government to explain to the good people of the state on why it is seeking N7 billion loan from Access Bank when it has yet to clear over N70 billion debt on its neck.

Adesanya said the little projects done so far by the government did not justify the N44 billion the governor met in the state coffers and the allocations he has collected since 2009 when he took over the reins of government.

According to him, the governor was only trying to create a mess for incoming government that would take over from him come 2017, like what former President Goodluck Jonathan did for President Muhammadu Buhari.

He explained further that, “The good people of Ondo State must ask Mimiko why the state must borrow another N7 billion loan when over N70billion was yet to be cleared by the government? Mimiko is only trying to create a mess for the incoming government that will take over from him by 2017 whereby, such new governor will find it difficult to hit the ground running.
