Some former aides of Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress in the state.
The former aides are ex-Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Furoebi Akene, who resigned his appointment and Dickson’s Special Representative to Southern Ijaw, Apreala Pereladei,
They defected alongside thousands of PDP members in the state.
The defection took place when the APC candidate in the state, Timipre Sylva, took his campaign tour to the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area ahead of the December 5 governorship poll.
Welcoming the defectors and other party members, Sylva said the council was a major stakeholder in the party because his running mate, Wilberforce Igiri, and APC’s state chairman are from Southern Ijaw.
He assured them that the party would improve their lives and urged them to embrace the APC for development.
