In the aftermath of the Peoples Democratic Party’s states, local government and ward congresses, member representing Okitipupa/Irele federal constituency of Ondo State, Hon. Mike Adeniyi Omogbehin is optimistic that with the relative peace within the party in the course of the Congresses, coupled with the irredeemable mistakes on the part of government of the day, it’s certain that the PDP will return to power in 2019.
While speaking with newsmen in Abuja, Omogbehin said that election of officers of the party at various levels are manifestations that the party had learnt from its past mistakes and now ready to return to power.
“I refuse to be a gullible politician and you know that there was peace on the course of election of executives of the party, there was no imposition of candidates even as every politician wants his own person in place; so PDP has done wonderfully now,” he said.
Omogbehin, however, denied that there is any intra-party squabble with regards to the National Chairman of the party, stressing that it was appropriate that the North East completes their tenure.
He also explained that it will not be lopsided if the party decides to zone its Presidential candidate to the North alongside the National Chairman, noting that what obtains in the party constitution was the Chairman to relinquish his appointment.
“Concerning the zoning of National Chairman of PDP to the North East, it is appropriate that the zone completed its tenure and it is no threat that Presidential candidate is zoned to the North, because there is a provision for the National Chairman to resign from office in the party’s Constitution,” he maintained.
The federal lawmaker emphasized that Nigerians were taking stock of Buhari’s missteps in governance, acknowledging that Nigerians were not only experiencing pains, but were disappointed and that as a party that was in Power before, the PDP will strategise to offer Nigerians the best of services this time.
