The candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) for the governorship election billed to hold on the 21st of this month in Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu has restated his pledge to revive the moribund Ajaokuta Steel rolling company if voted into power.
Speaking in Abuja when he received over 100 Okun youths from Mopa-muro local government area of the state that paid him a solidarity visit ahead of the forthcoming coming election, Audu assured that a fresh life will be breathed into the company soon.
Boasting of his closeness to the top hierarchy of the ruling APC, Audu said his administration would address the problem of youths unemployment, which he said would be achieved through revitalisation of the steel company.
According to him, the APC government will work assiduously towards ensuring that the company is revived, because it has the capacity to absorb 90 per cent of workforce of the state.
The former governor informed the delegation of his readiness to alleviate the suffering of the people of Kogi State by working closely with the federal government and relevant authorities at the centre to ensure realisation of the dream.
Noting that this would be done through raising funds from the capital market to achieve the objective of the industry, the APC leader in the state expressed concern over the high rate of unemployment among the teeming youths population in the state.
He noted that revitalizing the company is the panacea to addressing the issue of joblessness confronting the state and the country in General, just as he argued that apart from the joblessness crisis, the state also stands the chances to earn huge income from revenue expected to be generated from the company.
