Governor Udom Emmanuel on Monday called eight more witnesses to testify at the state governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Akwa Ibom State, in support of his victory at the last general elections.
At the resumed hearing of the petition, a witness of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the disputed governorship election, Inemesit Itina, said the election was peacefully conducted in all local government areas of the state including Etinan Local Government Area where he voted.
Other witnesses testified that the PDP has been winning elections in Akwa Ibom State since the inception of democracy in 1999.
Under cross examination by lawyer to the All Progressive Congress (APC), Solomon Umoh, the witness insisted that accreditation of voters was duly conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before the commencement of voting, maintaining that the PDP won massively.
Further hearing of the suit continues on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 as the PDP said it has more witnesses to call to prove its case of winning the election.
