An appeal has been made to state governments to merge their Budget and planning sectors into a Ministry and also improve their statistical data gathering for national development.
Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma made this appeal yesterday, at a stakeholder’s workshop organised by his Ministry to review 3 States Employment and Expenditure for Results (SEEFOR) project in Edo, Bayelsa and Delta.
The minister, who was represented by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Mrs Fatimah Mede further said that the Federal government is presently institutionalising an effective planning and statistical systems at the national level, through its effort at the strengthening the Departments of Planning Research and Statistic of Federal Ministries Department and extra ministerial Agencies, as well as added that it was designed to facilitate professionalization of the planning cadre for enhanced service delivery in public service.
