President Muhammadu Buhari has stressed that the war against global terrorism can only be won if the world unites, share their challenges and also present a common front to deal with terrorists and their various sponsors.
President Buhari, who called for global effective and result oriented collaboration , emphasised that there is need for greater international cooperation against terrorists since they no longer respect territorial boundaries.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, quoted Buhari as saying this on while “unreservedly” condemning Sunday’s terrorist attack on the Grand Bassam Resort in Cote D’Ivoire.
PMB passed the message when he put a telephone call through to President Alassane Ouattara after the attack, while conveying the sympathy of the Federal Government and people of Nigeria to the people of Cote D’Ivoire as they mourned their compatriots and foreign visitors who died in the attack
According to PMB, these terrorists have attacked a hotel in Mali, leaving 21 people dead. They killed over 130 people in attacks in Paris and they murdered 28 persons in Burkina Faso and we can’t just fold our hands and watch .
He was also quoted to have said that,”Terrorism does not respect territorial boundaries again. That is why the world has to come together, present a common front and deal with these merchants of evil”.
He said Buhari assured Quattara of Nigeria’s full solidarity and support as Cote D’Ivoire grappled with the consequences of “the heinous attack and strives to overcome the new security challenges posed by the terrorist incursion”
