As preparations for the presentation of Staff of Office to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Eniitan Ogunwusi on Monday reach an advanced stage, indications emerged yesterday that traditional rulers from Osun State may not attend the occasion.
The presentation ceremony by Governor Rauf Aregbesola is expected to attract dignitaries from across the country and abroad.
According to the chairman, Osun State Council of Obas, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, unless the Council receives a formal invitation letter from the Central Planning Committee of the event, the royal fathers may not attend.
Briefing newsmen shortly after he emerged as the substantive chairman of the Osun State Council of Obas, Aromolaran said, “If we are invited with invitation card or letter, we would attend after consulting with the governor. As at the time we concluded the meeting of Osun Council of Obas today (Thursday), we have not received any invitation from Ile-Ife about Monday’s coronation”.
