The Minister of State (Aviation), Senator Hadi Sirika, has insisted there is no connection between the impromptu visit by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport and the sack of Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Directors.
All directors in the aviation sector were sacked 24 hours after Osinbajo visited the Lagos Airport.
The visit was to assess the state of facilities and see possible areas of immediate attention.
Shortly after the visit, Sirika approved some reorganization in the NCAA, which saw all 10 directors removed.
Two directors were later reinstated.
Sirika has now denied that there was any link between the two events.
“The link between the two events has no basis, as the reorganisation in the agencies is part of an ongoing process to reposition them to properly and adequately carry out their regulatory mandates,” a statement signed by Mr. James Odaudu, the Deputy Director, Press on behalf of the Minister said.
