A father of three identified as Victor Aduloju, 58, weekend, slipped while fetching water from a well, fell in and drowned, in Akure, Ondo State.
He had just returned from work and wanted to take a shower with water from the well located behind his house at Iyange area of Oke-Ogba, Akure.
His corpse was discovered when a neighbour arrived the well to fetch water.
The neighbour was said to have discovered that the well was not closed and that a bucket was filled with water, while another was half full.
She reportedly raised alarm when she finished fetching her two buckets and nobody came for the ones she met by the well.
A search party found the corpse floating in the well.
His landlord, later reported the incident at Fanibi Divisional Police Station.
Contacted, police spokesman in the state, Wole Ogodo, said the corpse had been deposited in the mortuary of the State Police Specialist Hospital.
