The reception which took place at the Sagamu Interchange of Abeokuta-Siun-Sagamu expressway yesterday, had in attendance, the executive council members of the state led by the governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun as well as the officials of Sagamu local government.

The hearse which conveyed the remains of HID from Ibadan, Oyo State, where she had been laid in state, arrived at the Interchange around 3.20pm, accompanied by top officials of the Nigeria Police, Federal Road Safety Corps and Vigilante Service of Oyo State.

Speaking at the reception, Governor Amosun described Mama as a virtuous woman whose life can be read continuously for the living to learn from.

Flanked by two surviving daughters of HID, Mrs. Omotola Oyediran and Dr. Tokunbo Awolowo-Dosunmu, and Segun Awolowo on the dais, Amosun recalled that the state was preparing for the centenary birthday celebration of HID when she died, saying the state would still celebrate her on the 25th of November.

“We were preparing for her centenary celebration before her death; we will still celebrate her. HID was a virtuous woman; you can continue to read her like a book. Mama was a solid rock for Papa.

“We are happy that we are not mourning today but celebrating; Adieu Mama; we are already missing you before your interment.

“Mama was a mother to all; she will be with us for another 10 days and we will be pouring tributes for the next 10 days. Mama, rest in peace”, Amosun said.
