Man, 20, Docked For Allegedly Stealing Airtel Modus Worth N75,000

A 20-year-old man, Ukachi Obinna, who allegedly stole a Modus valued at N75,000 belonging to Airtel Nigeria, was on Tuesday charged before an Ota Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ota, Ogun.

Obinna, who resides at No.14, Ilo-Awera St. in Ota, Ogun, is facing a three-count charge of stealing, conspiracy and burglary.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Ebibomino Itaita, told the court that the accused and others still at large, committed the offences on March 24 at about 9 p.m., at Ilo-Awera.

Itaita said that the accused and his accomplices conspired among themselves and unlawfully entered the Airtel Company’s site and stole a Modus valued at N75,000.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 319 (9), 411, 412 and 413 of the Criminal Code Vol.1, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

The chief magistrate, Mrs Funke Odubanjo, granted the accused bail in the sum of N400,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Odubanjo said that the sureties must be residing within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed.

She also said the sureties should produce one year tax clearance from the Ogun State Government and submit four passport photographs to the court.

The case was adjourned till May 10 for hearing. (NAN)
