Lagos Assembly Wants Ambode To Construct Fly-over Across Pen Cinema

Lagos State House of Assembly has urged Governor  Akinwumi Ambode to construct fly-over across Pen Cinema connecting Oba Ogunji Agunbiade and Iju Road in Agege local government to reduce perennial gridlock in the area.

This followed a motion titled “Call for Construction of Bridge Around Agege-Pen Cinema-Oba Ogunji-Iju Road,” moved by Hon. Oluyinka Ogundimu (Agege 2) and seconded by Hon.  Abiodun Tobun (-Epe 1).

Speaking on the motion, Ogundimu said that the traffic situation around the area had negatively affected productive hours of residents, health and economic activities.

“The absence of fly-over in the area create lot of hardship and sufferings for motorists and residents and this has negative socio-economic implications.
“Motorists and commuters who ply Agege Axis and Pen Cinema experience daily chaotic traffic jam leading to incessant accidents, traffic gridlock, loss of lives and productive hours. Unless urgent step is taken by the state government to address the situation, the people would continue to suffer,” he said.

Ogundimu said that Agege-Ifako Model City Plan provided for a fly-over at the cross road.
According to him, the bridge will not only reduce the sufferings of motorists and commuters in Agege but help those of Alimosho, Ikeja, Ifako-Ijaiye and Ogun State.

Contributing to the motion, Hon. Bisi Yusuf (Alimosho 1) said the fear of congestion in that area is the beginning of wisdom for motorists and commuters in the area.
Yusuf said that traffic situation in the area had not only affected the economic   activities in the area but also the security situation.
