IGP Says Intellegence Policing Ultimate For Nigeria

The Inspector-General of Police, (IGP), Mr Solomon Arase, has said that intelligence-led policing is the ultimate for Nigeria.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Kolawole, acting Assistant Commissioner of Police, in Abuja on Saturday.

The statement said Arase stated this when a delegation from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) paid him a courtesy visit at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

He maintained that policing Nigeria in the 21st Century required intelligence gathering and analysis to effectively police the country.
IGP Arase assured his guests that the Nigeria Police under his administration was ever ready to partner with credible organisations for the security of the country.

He intimated the management of his desire for a standard and automated database in the issuance of Character certificate and tinted glasses to avoid discrepancies.

Arase said that a proper identification database would assist the police in recruiting credible youths when the recruitment exercise commenced.

Earlier, the Director-General, NIMC, Mr. Chris Onyemena, said the commission was ready to collaborate with the police in providing database for the ongoing Identification Card exercise. (NAN)
