A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Barnabas Gemade, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to prevail on security agencies to end the spate of killings by herdsmen in the country.
In a statement issued in Abuja yesterday, Gemade noted that herdsmen had practically sacked several communities in Benue State, particularly those in the Tiv land through the orgy of killings carried out by rampaging herdsmen.
The lawmaker pleaded with the President to direct the security forces fighting terrorists cattle rustlers and armed herdsmen to double their efforts to tackle “armed herdsmen” killing innocent people in Benue and other parts of the country.
Gemade assured the President of his continuous support and that of Benue people in his ongoing fight against corruption and insurgency .
The Senator, who represents Benue North-East senatorial district in the Senate, however commended President Buhari for the appointments of Mr Tor Uja as the Director General of NCPC and Major General India Garba as chairman of NIMASA, while pleading for more appointments for Benue people, especially of the Tiv extraction that voted massively for the ruling APC.
