Future Of Pilgrimage In Nigeria Lies In Private Funding – SGF

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Engr. Babachir David Lawal has said the future of pilgrimage in Nigeria lies in private funding or sponsorship, saying no business of government will run as usual.

Speaking at the 2015 annual national pre-pilgrimage retreat of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Engr. Lawal noted that President Muhammadu Buhari was focused on reducing the cost of governance and ensuring prudent use of resources.

“As you are aware, President Muhammadu Buhari is focused on reducing the cost of governance and ensuring prudent use of resources. Pilgrimage activities both for Christians and Muslims must begin to look for private funding. Private funding/ sponsorship is the thrust of this government.

“I am pleased with NCPC’s drive towards self-sustenance and I encourage you to support and sustain this. The future of Christian pilgrimage lies in self-sponsorship. I as the SGF, can only support you,” the SGF added.

Engr. Lawal charged the participants and stakeholders to make the best of the retreat and come up with ideas.
