FG To Quantity Surveyors: Embrace PMB’s Anti- Corruption Stand, Tackle Wastages

The Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN) has been told to embrace President Muhammadu Buhari’s ongoing fight against wastages and looting of public funds perpetrated through contract inflation, over-invoicing and other acts of corruption bedevilling the sector.

The permanent secretary, Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mr George Ossi gave the advice at the on-going 2015 Annual Conference of Registered Quantity Surveyors, tagged ‘Strategic Options For the Nigerian Quantity Surveyor in the Next Two Decades.’

Mr Ossi who said improved infrastructure is a major component of PMB’s Change Agenda, emphasised the need for building professionals to promote resource optimisation and value maximisation in construction project implementation , hinting that the federal government will henceforth assess their widely acclaimed expertise in cost management of projects to put the nation back on the track to sustainable development.

In his welcome address, the president, Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria, Mallam Hussaini Dikko, who supported the federal government’s stand, said the board must be in the vanguard of the war against the monster called corruption, and must hold integrity in high esteem.

Stressing the need for the board to strive to remain at the cutting edge of development within the profession in the country and the global market place, Dikko advised his colleagues to update their knowledge since it remains the most important source of personal power.
