Ebonyi State Govt Shuts Down Hotel Due To Illicit Activities

The Ebonyi State government at the weekend shut down a two-star hotel known as Brifina Garden located along Waterworks Road, Abakaliki, over alleged illicit activities which include pornography, prostitution, sodomy wanton selling and consumption of illicit drugs and other prohibited substances.

Speaking after sealing off the hotel, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Dave Umahi on Security, Mr. Ali Odefa said when information got to his office about the illicit activities going on in a nightclub at the hotel, he invited the manager and managers of other clubs involved in such acts to his office and told them to desist from such acts as government was not happy with such activities.

He warned the managers to stop parading girls who dance naked while some objects are inserted into their genitals just to entertain their viewers.

According to him, two of the club managers invited heeded the instruction while the Brifina manager did not as she was reported to have sent her girls back to the stage to perform striptease acts, forcing the government to wield the big stick.

Odefa maintained that the illicit activities in the hotel posed security threat to the state as all manner of people patronize the hotel.
