Just as motorists in Makurdi, the Benue State capital have accused the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) conniving with petroleum marketers in the state to fleece consumers, the organisation said it has shut about 10 filling stations in the state capital for engaging in sharp practices.
Even though the Operations Controller, DPR, Makurdi Field Office, Abdullahi Isa, said on Monday that the affected stations would remain shut until they comply with laid down procedures guiding the operations of marketers, motorists insist they have turned a blind eye on the illegal activities of the marketers.
Sources within the DPR office reliably told Daily Independent that it has been business as usual at the Makurdi office which is in charge of Benue and Nasarawa states.
