The Democratic People’s Congress (DPC) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to be firm and courageous in piloting the affairs of the nation.
The party stated this in a press release signed by its national chairman, Rev. Olusegun Peters, yesterday in Abuja to felicitate with Nigerians on the occasion of the nation’s 55th Independence Anniversary.
It said that the anniversary shows the courage, patriotism and resilience of the citizenry to build a strong, virile, prosperous and just society even as it noted the several challenges the country has passed through in the past 55 years.
It said: “We are grateful to God that despite a civil war, political upheavals, military interventions, economic stagnation, militancy and insurgency, Nigeria remains the great arsenal of democracy in Africa and a key player in world politics.
“The 2015 independence anniversary calls for sober reflection and prayers for divine intervention in piloting the affairs of the nation.
“Indeed, the state of the nation is bad despite abundant human and natural resources. It is obvious that the trouble with Nigeria is leadership.”
