Court Remands Man In Prison Custody For Allegedly Assaulting Mother

An Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun on Monday remanded a 45-year-old man, Babatunde Awonubi, in prison custody for allegedly assaulting his mother.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Chudu Gbesi, told the court that Awonubi, who resides at No. 3, Adewolu St., Ota, committed the offence on Dec. 1, at about 10 a.m.

Gbesi said that the accused person assaulted his mother (Maria Awonubi) by using a stick to inflict serious injury on her head.

He said the offence contravened Section 355 of the Criminal Code Vol.1, Revised Laws of Ogun State, 2006.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence.

The Senior Magistrate, Mr S.O. Banwo, ordered that the accused be remanded in Oba Prisons in Abeokuta and adjourned the case till Jan. 7, 2016 for consideration of bail. (NAN)
