Aliko Dangote Bags Police Award

The President, Dangote Groups, Aliko Dangote has bagged an Award for invaluable support to the Nigeria Police Force.

Dangote was presented with the Award during a Gala Night, organised to mark the end of the ‘11th Biennial Police Games Week Abuja 2016’, organised by the Police in Abuja.

The Inspector General of Police, IGP, Solomon E. Arase who presented the Award, at the occasion, said Dangote deserved the honour as a Proud Supporter of the Police.

Arese said the Award is “In recognition and appreciation of your support towards the successful hosting of the Nigeria Police Biennial Game and Police Week 2016”.

The IGP said beyond the social components, the Gala Night was conceptualized to recognize and appreciate personalities in the public and private sectors that have over the years demonstrated consistent support towards the attainment of policing issues, for the benefit of the Nigeria Police Force in particular, and the country in general.

According to Arase, success story of the Police Week and Games would be incomplete without the social interaction.

Representative of Dangote Group in Abuja, Hashim Ahmad, received the Award on behalf of Aliko Dangote who donated the sum of N20m to the Nigeria Police Force towards the event as part of Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) Corporate Social Responsibility.

Other recipients were Winifred Opanyin of the Cross River state Police Command for donating patrol vehicles to the divisional police headquarters in Calabar.

 Temitope Balogun Joshua, Ondo state Police Command, for donating 12 brand new Hilux vehicles to Akoko Area of the headquarters, renovating the Ikare police station, erecting a fence and distributing rice to policemen in the division every end of year. Hon. Rotimi Ibidape, Ondo state for building a Clinic and renovating ‘A’ and ‘B’ division offices and donating a Hilux vehicle to SAS.

Other prestigious personalities recognized at the occasion include the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II, represented by Katukan Kano, Alhaji Bashir Albasu who is also a former AIG, the Shehu of Borno, Governors of states across the federation some of which are Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Adamawa, Sokoto, Kogi, Benue. Kano, Jigawa, Plateau, entrepreneurs etc.

Earlier at the grand finale of the Police Week and Games held at the Eagle Square, President Muhammadu Buhari, represented by Minister of Interior, Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazzau Rtd. said government is taking measures to entrench citizens’ concept of policing in order to address insecurity in the county on a sustainable basis.
