Ahmadu Bello’s Grandson, Danbaba Resigns As Magajin Gari Sokoto

Hassan Ahmed, the only grandson of the late Premier of the Northern Region, Sir Ahmadu Bello, has resigned as the Magajin Gari of Sokoto.

This follows a disagreement between him and the Zonal Vice-Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Inuwa Abdulkadir.

Sources from the Sultanate Council informed newsmen that Danbaba resigned because he was not happy with the way the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Mohammed Sa’ad Abubakar III, was handling the issue.

Danbaba was appointed 20 years ago by the late Sultan of Sokoto, Mohammed Maccido.

Ever since that time, he has remained a member of Sultanate Council and Sokoto State Council of Chiefs and also the Chairman of the Finance and General Purpose Committee of the Sultanate Council.

Danbaba reportedly threw his resignation letter at the Sultan and walked out.

“The Magajin Gari of Sokoto could not take it anymore and he walked out on the Sultan.

“We understand that prominent Nigerians have started making moves to reconcile the Sultan and the Magajin Gari, including the Emir of Gwandu, General Aliu Mohammed Guzzau (rtd) and Justice Moman Nasir, former President of the Court of Appeal,” the source said.
