Chief Paul Odenigbo, Executive Secretary, Anambra State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), has renewed the call on the people to be on guard against imminent flood disasters.
Odenigbo told newsmen in Awka on Thursday that the call had become imperative to enable the people of the state to take precautionary measures.
According to him, the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NiMET) has predicted the intensity of rainfall increase in September and October in the state.
He said that the agency had in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) inspected flood prone areas of the state twice in the last three months.
Odenigbo said the flood enlightenment team had taught the people measures to be taken to minimise the adverse effects of imminent flood disaster and also save lives and property.
He said the flood prone Local Government Areas in the state include: Anyamelum, Anambra East and West, Ogbaru, Onitsha North and South, Idemili South, Awka North, Ekwusigo and Ihiala.
