The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said 65 people died in road traffic accidents in Katsina State between January and March.
Alhaji Abdu Bagadawa, the FRSC Sector Commander in the state, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Katsina.
Bagadawa also said that 280 persons sustained various degrees of injury in 400 road accidents during the period under review.
He said that some of the accidents were caused by speed limit violation, route violation, reckless driving and dangerous overtaking.
He said that the command was, therefore, intensifying patrols to reduce road crashes in the state.
The sector commander advised parents to desist from carrying their under-aged children in front seat of their vehicles as doing so could expose them to danger during accident.
He also called on motorists to desist from buying second hand tyres which could burst at any time and cause accident. (NAN)
