Less than 24 hours after Nigerian troops captured the strategic town of Banki Town, in Borno state, over 200 members of the terrorists organisation, Boko Haram, surrendered on Friday.
Banki Town is a settlement near Lake Chad and is noted for fishing.
Major economic and trading activities between Nigeria, Cameroon and Central African countries takes place in Banki town.
Many Boko Haram terrorists were also captured by Nigerian troops, while the stubborn terrorists who refused to surrender were killed in the military offensive.
The spokesperson of the Nigerian Army, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman has confirmed the developments.
