About 10 contestants have indicated their interests to contest for the seat of the Emir of Misau in Bauchi State following the death of Alhaji Muhammadu Manga III who died last Monday.
A source at the Palace disclosed that the contestants include the secretary to the Bauchi State government, Alhaji Ahmed Suleiman, Aliyu Mohammed Manga, Suleiman Mohammed Manga, Ahmadu Ahmadu, Ahmed Mohammed Manga, Turaki Mohammed Manga, Sabo Aliyu Ahmed, Waziri Mohammed Manga, Magaji Mohammed Manga and Bappah Mohammed Manga.
Traditional kingmakers are expected to submit a list of three people to the state governor who is expected to choose one of them.
Meanwhile, some residents of Misau, Abubakar Mohammed and Salisu Usman, urged the state government to be neutral and choose the best among the contestants.
They commended the state governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, for being neutral in the selection process of the new emir.
They urged the governor to investigate the process of selecting new emir of Misau and alleged that chairmen of Misau and Dambam local government areas.
