No fewer than three children have died of measles and whooping cough in three villages of Babura local government area of Jigawa.
The council’s head of water sanitation and hygiene (WASH), Malam Umar Maisule, confirmed this through the council’s information officer, Alhaji Sulaiman Doro.
He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday that the cases were recorded in Kanawa, Kagadawa and Garu villages.
The official said 50 children were diagnosed with the diseases in the three villages.
He said already, the local council had released N50, 000 for the purchase of drugs.
He advised parents in the area to take their children to designated centres for routine immunization.
According to him, the council has reached out to the state ministry of health for additional vaccines. (NAN)
