Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, has admitted that Lucas Perez is “pushing on the door” and deserves to play more.
The Spaniard is reportedly eager to leave the Emirates at the end of the season, after becoming frustrated with his chances under Wenger.
But the coach says the former Deportivo La Coruna forward is not playing a lot, because there are strikers in front of him.
“Yes, he is pushing on the door but I have many strikers,” Wenger said.
“I have [Olivier] Giroud, [Danny] Welbeck, [Theo] Walcott, Alexis [Sanchez] and Lucas.
“It is true that he deserves a go because he scores goals and is a good player.”
Peres was on the scoresheet, as Arsenal beat Sutton United 2-0 on Monday night, to qualify for the quarter-final of the FA Cup.
