Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai has ordered commissioners in the state to brief press weekly on the activities of their respective ministries.
The Commissioner for Youths, Sports and Culture, Hon Daniel Danauta disclosed this yesterday when he received on a courtesy call, the executive members of the Sport Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kaduna State chapter in his office.
According to the commissioner, the marching order is to take effect from next week, saying his own ministry is to brief the press every Thursday of the week.
The essence of the briefing, according to the governor, the commissioner said, was to avail the public through the media, the opportunity to know how each of the ministries is fairing, viz-a-viz their activities.
He said the era where each ministry run their activities unnoticed is over, adding that such order from the governor is a very welcomed development because it will put every commissioner on his or her toes to deliver according to mandate.
“The governor is committed to keeping to his promise of making Kaduna State great again, and he is not leaving any stone unturned to achieving it, and those of us at the helms of affairs in the various ministries have no option but to follow suit and ensure a total positive turn around in our ministries.
“I know the expectations from my ministry are very high and we are set and ready to reposition the glory of sport in Kaduna State and restore it to its place,” he said.
He lamented, however, that there has been neglect and abuse of processes and luke-warmness in the administration of sport in the past and assured on changing the tide.
“We are going to restore grassroot, school and community sports. We intend to revive sport in a holistic manner and no single sport will be left out” he stated.
