The attacks on agrarian communities of Benue state have continued unabated with two policemen drafted to maintain peace in the affected areas reportedly shot and killed.
This came just as the police in the state have arrested three cattle rustlers in Guma local government area of the state.
Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom disclosed this yesterday at the Peoples House, Makurdi when officials of the National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA) and members of the house committee on emergency and disaster preparedness visited him.
According to Ortom, the two policemen were reportedly shot and killed by some armed militia that were unleashing terror on Benue communities.
Ortom said the arrested cattle rustlers were believed to Fulani cattle rearers and that they had stolen about 300 cows from Kaduna state and brought them into Benue to graze.
The commissioner of police, Mr. Paul Yakadi confirmed the shooting and arrests adding that the command had deployed its men to Guma LGA to garner official information on the matter.
