An early morning suicide bomb attack by suspected Boko Haram member at Central Mosque, Dalori quarters, Maiduguri left one dead.
The deceased, One Salihu Ali, a graduate of the department of Continuing Education, University of Maiduguri, was said to be checking people entering the mosque to pray, but met his death when a lone suicide bomber approached him and detonated the improvised explosive device, IEDs.
Residents of the area who spoke to newsmen prayed God to grant him rest.
A resident, Malam Abdullahi Sani said, Salihu Ali was waiting to go for his National Youth Service (NYSC), and got engaged working with the civil JTF to assists in ensuring safety for Muslim faithful. He said Ali was involved in checking infiltration by the Boko Haram following recent determination by the sect to unleash terror in Maiduguri.
According to Sani, ” We usually have some people guarding the place of worship each time there is call for prayers. Some of us will go in and pray while others will watch and when those who went in to pray were done, they would come out to stand in for others to go in and pray. It is very unfortunate that, it turned out that this suicide bomber came and attacked, killing this young man,” he lamented.
